Dr. Kayla is originally from a very small town in Northern Ontario about 2 hours north of Sudbury. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Laurentian University in 2011 and then went on to graduate from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph in 2015 with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She spent the next 3 years as a veterinarian in Englehart, Ontario, gaining valuable experience in general practice and emergency medicine in a remote northern area. She then spent a year living and working in Quebec City before moving back to Ontario in January 2020.
Dr. Kayla enjoys both soft tissue surgery and internal medicine, and particularly enjoys figuring out the puzzling cases. She spent many years in wildlife rehabilitation prior to vet school, so has a soft spot for all kind of animals (especially moose!).
When she’s not working, Dr. Kayla enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, playing board games and relaxing with her family, including her partner Ian and their two cats – Odin the one-eyed orange tabby and his rambunctious little brother Loki.
